Essentially what I’ve done in this course is establish a “grid” type of exercise. But because I focused on beats one and three, this method is efficient, and provides more practice in less time.
I’ve organized these rhythms into six videos with six exercises each. To expand your vocabulary of kick drum patterns, play along to each of these variations. All of this material was recorded to a click track to ensure tempo consistency. If any tempo is too fast at this stage, simply play along to what you can and listen until the next exercise starts. If all of the tempos are too fast, pause the video and slowly read the music one note at a time. Remember that any method will take time.
